Amatus – Broken Compass
I usually feature music that I come across on my own, but really good music has been finding me as well. It’s like having a cupcake walk up to my door, ring the bell, then being able to indulge in that cupcake forever. Such is the case with this talented Brooklyn based artist I’m listening to named Amatus! She recently released a project called Broken Compass. You can stream it here and/or download it by following the bandcamp link I’ve listed below. I’ve also provided the DOPE new video for her lead single, Messin. The concept is very clever and relevant to the way we get along through life. Do…

This is (kindA) what I’m up to noW.
I realized that I have not written a full blog post on myself lately. It’s been fulfilling to share my lessons here, even though it is a blind exchange. Every concrete thing I would want to write and express about my current experience is still in progress. I don’t like to talk too specifically about what I’m getting into because the things are always changing shape before completion. I will share that I have been doing a lot of self-defining writing lately. I see myself clearer than ever, so a lot of wonderful messages are escaping me. Besides the poetry I have been writing, I am gradually working on the…

Allan Kingdom – Future Memoirs
Delivering some more NEW waves! I have been listening to Future Memoirs for a few days now, and it feels perfect to add to my growing list of music here on the frolic. The Spooky Black feature is what led me to this and other previous and equally stunning EPs by Minnesota native Allan Kingdom. Their collaboration on Wavey is one of my favorites, besides Evergreens, Souls, Famines, and Context, which all add a flavor to this rare sound. I LOVE the production on this project. Some of the sounds, when lined with his flow is really interesting and awesome! His amazing production skills and flow grants a high place…

Little Simz – E.D.G.E. EP
I have replayed E.D.G.E. more times than I remember now. Little Simz caught my attention from a freestyle, but it wasn’t until I came upon clips posted by her management that I decided to listen to more of her work and found myself taking it in all it once. It’s like that sometimes. I am glad that I came upon those clips at that time, because this girl’s flow is phenomenal! You instantly notice that she is not the typical female MC we are presented with by society, these days. For one, she is British and puts no effort into hiding her accent. Little Simz also counters the general aesthetic…

Full Crate x Mar – Man x Woman
There is a super intriguing visual to Full Crate and Mar’s single Man x Woman that has finally been released through Island Records. This is big news as their previous work together is some of the most soulful in my collection. Mar’s song Our Attempt is on every song list I make for my girls, and I Said is an absolute classic to my ears! I’m excited to know that they are still making music together and will be releasing some more new stuff soon. These two belong on the list of my anticipated duos of the year. I’ve gathered their new visual as well as a few older gems…

Purple Ferdinand’s Dragon Fly EP
We are fortunate to be exposed to the internet, because those like myself get to discover amazing artists based across the country and seas who I might otherwise hear about years from now, if ever. Some of my favorite musicians are coming from the U.K., such and Etta Bond, Little Simz, Rainy Milo, and this latest feature, Purple Ferdinand. Even Full Crate and Mar (Netherlands) join the grip of artists coming out of Europe whose sounds pull at me greater than half of the artists ruling America’s urban/pop radio record. So, onto Purple Ferdinand. With one look at this girl, even with her gloriously inked skin and style, her gentleness…

Project Feed: L.A. needs Vendors! (updated June 19th)
I’ll soon update this post with more details, but a friend of mine along with over forty other people (including myself and we’re growing!) will partake in a 2-Day fundraising event to feed the homeless residents of Los Angeles. This will be Project Feed’s very first festival here in Los Angeles and the people need all of the help we can get. We want artists and business owners of all sorts to partake in this event. I know that I’ve always wanted to contribute of something as beautiful and BIG as this will be and as with everything else this year, my dreams are coming closer. We are prepping a…

Freely Observing
I have practiced living freely lately. What does it mean to live freely? I notice that most people think of it in terms of financial stability. Being able to buy whatever you like and go wherever you like because you have all of the money you’ve ever dreamed of is what those in this age consider freedom. This is fair, but I am happier than ever while being far from my financial goals. So, what do I mean exactly? When I say FREELY, I mean living, breathing, walking around with acknowledgement of mental blocks that threaten to stop me from doing what I want, whatever it maybe. Fear is an…

Low Leaf – Set Me Free & Rise Up
Today the fairy is here to deliver something so special in the form of a Filipino beauty called Low Leaf. The first I heard of Low Leaf is from her Giga Gaia ep, which attracts me with just the title itself. Then I felt excited about the discovery because of her writing protrudes beside everything that I was listening to around that time, and presently. There is an authentic, old mysticism about her. If you take a look at her website DIY.com, you’ll get an idea of what I mean. I’m hoping she can manage to stay pure, because music needs this! She also plays her own harp on stage…

Yeah baby, I like it RAW!
All RAW everything! At least for the next two weeks… I’m currently experiencing my sixth day of the twenty day HERBAL cleanse I’m doing which requires that I adopt an all raw food diet. Yup! This means that I am not consuming anything that has been processed with sugar and artificial flavors and other chemicals that we know make up the foods we consume regularly. No dairy products, or anything of animal origin has entered me since this past Monday! Once again, I’m amazed by the timing of this particular adventure because I’ve been interested in improving my diet, but I always thought it would be too expensive to start…
