Abra Live In L.A. Video (9/30/2023)

Last September, I saw one of my most listened to singers live at one of the coolest events in Los Angeles. Abra makes beautiful music that makes me feel like I’ve been teleported a few decades back in time. Lyrically, she’s one of the most brilliant artists today. I hope that she gets her proper shine sooner than later. I’ve decided to put some of the clips I captured from that performance into a video of the performance. I hope that any Abra fans that come along can appreciate the find, as it’s rare that she performs. Enjoy!

    TiDUS – Not Sorry (Visual)

A year since teasing a clip on Instagram, Tidus has finally released his song “Not Sorry” to the world. The song was first featured in the independent film Canal Street, led by great actors like Bryshere Gray (Empire) and Mekhi Phifer. It can now be streamed everywhere, and Tidus has made a visual to complement it. The etheric beauty of “Not Sorry” speaks for itself. I enjoy his enchanting vocals on this one. Being that this is the third of three single releases the musician has released this year, and one of many he has recently previewed online, we can expect more from Tidus throughout the year. His full project…

    SINKING IN Playlist

SINKING IN Playlist is all about allowing oneself to relax. During our time quarantining, there have been many threats to our mental, emotional, and physical health. I notice that many people are experiencing anxiety through the roof. There have been several moments when I found myself almost being influenced to fall into a fearful mindstate, but I refuse to be hopeless and to allow circumstances that are out of my power to lower my vibration. Now is the time to raise ourselves into higher states by reconnecting with our true nondistracted selves. Be alone. Go within. That is the basis of this beautiful mix, featuring different types of music that…

    SOUL TIES Playlist

SOUL TIES playlist was inspired while I was listening to several songs that have a beautifully nostalgic 80s-electronic-r&b vibe to them but were actually released between now and the early 2000s. This is another playlist that I am taking my time with building. There are some songs that aren’t available to stream which I will eventually add to a mix version of this playlist later this year. I hope everyone that comes across it enjoys and that it takes them to a dreamy place like it does for me. Yes, that is Prince and his soulmate Denise “Vanity” Matthews on the cover. R.I.P. to them both. Follow me on Apple…

    HEAVY Playlist

HEAVY playlist is curated from some emotional tracks that I love, from all over the music spectrum, but definitely including soulful aspects. This curation is still in its early stages. I want to build this one up slowly, as I am inspired and reminded of the best rare heartbreak to healing songs. “Feel free to feel. Feel free to heal.” -@StellarFaerie Follow me on Apple Music to keep up with my latest playlists, which are updated weekly. I will be following back anyone who also curates their own. You can also keep up via Spotify. Be sure to @ me on my socials to let me know what you think!…

JST DAVID – Snacks LP Feat. Jay Kale

Earlier this week, the Lousiana-bred artist JST David released his debut solo album entitled Snacks. I previously featured JST David with his soulful rock band Honeyvibe. Their infectious jam Summersong was a theme that played in my head all last summer. It seems that JST David’s voice gets even better and more distinct on his new songs. Snacks is a unique storytelling project that was created with producer Jay Kale, in a few short weeks. There are powerful and necessary messages which come across throughout its length. I believe that many of us can easily connect to the vulnerability presented. My current favorites are In Need Of Your Helping Hands…

Rub n’ Alc – Poison IV

Rub n’ Alc released the perfect new song for the peak of the summer. We are familiar with the duo through their collaborations with Cub J. Hailing from both Evanston and Chicago, in Illinois, they are currently preparing to release a special new album entitled Increase the Drip. The introductory single Poison IV is indeed a “trippy” masterpiece—fluid with smooth instrumentation that left me bopping my head from the very first beat. Along with the other songs you can stream via their official SoundCloud, the music embodies many classic rhythm and blues elements, while creatively touching on themes of mental illness. Like many of my favorite dance-inducing jams, Poison IV…

    Jean Créme – Underwater EP

Jean Créme (formerly Alem Bey / Alem Banks) recently dropped a Drum & Bass driven instrumental EP that I immediately fell in love with—start to finish. I decided to have my first listen to UNDERWATER while preparing to hit the city streets for the night, and I’ve been getting ready to it ever since. I suspect that it was designed to energize, as each track is complete with a hypnotic loop and beautifully layered sounds that beckon one to move non-stop. Even the slightly more laid back track Chopped Screws is a major hip-rocker. I would love to hear this in a bar or the clubs. Check out the project…

    Lordapex – Interplanetary Funk LP

Interplanetary Funk LP by Lordapex could prompt anyone to catch an immediate vibe. This album is an absolute headbanger, from start to finish. Lordapex is gifted with a flow that juggles listeners from earthly concepts to imaginative abstract zones in between. This is, of course, is right up our alley! The British accent he delivers it all in somehow adds an intriguing flair to the style. I have so many personal favorites from this twenty-two track project. Some of my instant replays were Pretty Penny, Cyborg Luv Story, Em International, Palm Blunt Like Paint Brush, and Rick & Morty—with its incredible beat. I’m really looking forward to hearing this artist…

ROSEWATER – Gemini. and Beer & Udon / While We Pretend EP

One of my favorite new-school lyricists, Blksunchild recently began to unveil some beautiful instrumental work under the alias ROSEWATER. The first project, Beer & Udon/While We Pretend EP is lush with dreamy and curious experimental sounds. He describes its purpose, saying “It’s hard to feel nowadays, so all I want to do is  promote ‘feeling.’ It’s real simple, I’m here for yall.” The frolic fully welcomes and appreciates this sort of intent! There is a major jazz flair to the track dedicated to Amy Winehouse: FlowersForAmy—which is one of my favorites from the introductory project. You’ll also hear nostalgic anime voiceovers guiding us through the songs, along with other samples…
