TiDUS – Before It’s Too Late EP (+Download)
As all comes full circle, it was this time last year when Tidus reappeared with Soon You’ll Understand. Since the elusive musician stated the EP would be his first of three connected projects, he also gave listeners another helping of unique and dreamy sounds through the second part, Why We’re Here On Earth. Sealing off an era of exquisite growth comes the final Before It’s Too Late. Like in the first two parts, Tidus speaks to collective humanity through reflections on his own perspective and experiences. Because of this, it is easy to connect and be lost in both compelling word choice and the etheric fields that he creates with…

The Ethnics – Recently EP
I happened to catch this fantastic bandcamp release a couple of months ago and thought I would finally share. This singer-producer duo calls themselves The Ethnics and their unifying new release titled Recently gleams with rhythmic soul jams that I got into immediately, upon listening. I also quickly noticed that they reflect on many true to life situations. Several every-day themes throughout this EP are familiar to me through experiences I have had myself, or other people in my life. My current favorites are TWT, Shea Butter, and Ice Cream. Hadassah – Oakmere Drive EP
Get lost in this ultra-entrancing EP by Hadassah. Her sultry jazz-trained vocals blend beautifully with the atmospheric beats featured throughout Oakmere Drive. She touches on many themes, including one which always hits home here, self-love and acceptance. She mentions that this project arrived after a difficult personal period she experienced last year, with finishing school and losing a family member. Knowing this makes the healing vibration of the tracks even more apparent. I especially enjoyed her version of Atmosphere’s classic God’s Bathroom Floor, Real Feat. Maassai & Akai $olo, Ocean Floor, and Visions. Have a listen for yourself below and enjoy! Support this rare gem of an artist through the…

Camille Safiya – Indigo
Camille Safiya’s strong and raspy vocals ring out loud and clear, along with her beautiful message on her three-song EP, Indigo. This new acoustic one will leave you as reflective and inspired as her previous gifts, Island Blues | The Sonic Memoirs and the one which personally reeled in my ear, 24k. Ankhten Brown & Eyedress – 420/20 Vision EP
Listening to Eyedress of Babe Slayer led me to many other dope musicians he supports, such as Ankhten Brown. The two released a collaborative EP called 420/20 Vision on the universally acknowledged holiday for lovers of our little green herbal friend. As usual, Eyedress’ production is beyond being on point, while he adds a few verses to the project as well. Ankhten Brown’s stunning lyricism is the other main focus as he goes on non-stop through-out many of the tracks. My current favorites are Emperor Steeze, Mowgli Jesus, Black Sheep Boyz, and Booty Vision. Listen for yourself below! eyedress.bandcamp.com facebook.com/AK47SHIP facebook.com/babeslayer777

Alexandria – Promise EP
I agree with the currently common idea that the massive catering for the soulful r&b junkie has been lacking for a few years now, but anyone who claims that r&b is done is tragically sleeping on artists like the ever-refreshing Alexandria. Her latest EP Promise is pure quality, filled with her stunning high notes and the sort of jams that give me the warm feeling that old school does, to this day. My favorites are You Ain’t Gotta Lie and Fly. Check it out for yourself below and enjoy. alexandriaofficial.bandcamp.com facebook.com/likealexandria twitter.com/Thee_Alexandria

Teedra Moses – ClairVoyant the mixtape (+Download)
One of the greatest modern r&b soul singers released a new mixtape called ClairVoyant the mixtape. Teedra Moses dropped the new slice of heaven on the night of her birthday, giving her long-time fans a gift for the holidays. Personally, coming across this when I did, completely changed my mood. Divine timing is real. Not only was I excited to listen to new sounds from the Young Lioness, so soon after she released her album Cognac & Conversations, but I had also been wavering on a low frequency mindset that was changed by connection felt through these songs. The beautiful power of music works through moments like that, when it…

Saint Tiimbre – Body Moves EP & Visual
As soon as I hit play to take in the sounds of Saint Tiimbre’s latest project Body Moves, the lights dim as some atmospheric dance scene grips my imaginative brain, every single time. The emerging San Franscisco group consists of vocalist/producer Natasha Adore and producers Amp Live and Julia Lewis. This is another collaboration made in heaven, as every other song takes me to similar places. It is a soulfully melodic dance record released through Little Friend Records. Each track has a retro vibe. Keep up with this group through the links and also check out the official visual for the lead song, Body Moves, below. Phlow – Melanin EP
The Melanin EP is a wonderful play to either begin or end the night with a room full of friends, and I also highly recommend it when you attempt to get closer to a special one. The entire project is light and well balanced. It is truly fitting for any time you want to smile, dance, and celebrate life. The artist, Phlow has a soothingly smooth voice while the lyrical content throughout the project is as infectious as my favorite timeless neo-soul jams. It is not surprising that popular producers including Sango and IAMNOBODI provided sounds for a few of the songs, including my favorites Blackberry (Intro), Sweeter The Juice,…

Uzochi Phazora – Jungle Lost Adventures of Za
Just the name Uzochi Phazora, hints at the energy this being radiates. I discovered the music of Uzochi while looking for unique instrumentals for new songs I am writing. I found much more than that. There are two beautiful EPs she released, The Trap and Reality As Untold Fables, as well as Jungle Lost – Adventures of Za. Her productions are rich and story-like. Uzochi herself noted that Za is a tribal girl who ventures through the jungle and encounters traps, other tribes, and joy. My favorites are Za Caught In Bliss, Za Ventures Into The Jungle, and The Fall and Rise. I love to lay back and get lost…
