I agree with the currently common idea that the massive catering for the soulful r&b junkie has been lacking for a few years now, but anyone who claims that r&b is done is tragically sleeping on artists like the ever-refreshing Alexandria. Her latest EP Promise is pure quality, filled with her stunning high notes and the sort of jams that give me the warm feeling that old school does, to this day. Alexandria dropped this stunning collection of thoughts and emotions around Valentine’s day, which I felt was fantastic, once I listened to it all. Not only is the r&b sound refreshing, the themes are as well. I always appreciate a project about love and its phases. It is actually rare to find one that is all about love and pain.
