    Rub n’ Alc released the perfect new song for the peak of the summer. We are familiar with the duo through their collaborations with Cub J. Hailing from both Evanston and Chicago, in Illinois, they are currently preparing to release a special new album entitled Increase the Drip. The introductory single Poison IV is indeed a “trippy” masterpiece—fluid with smooth instrumentation that left me bopping my head from the very first beat.     Knowledge To Wisdom Mix (+Download)

    This mix happened while I was making a playlist inspired by the recently deceased Maurice White, of Earth Wind And Fire. I will forever remember the wonderful vibrations felt when I listen to that band. It’s so uplifting and timeless. Naturally, the playlist lead me into a new mix that is different than the usual r&b influencees I feature here, on the Frolic. Old school soul and funky rhythm and blues is one of the styles I heard around me, growing up, and I fall more in love with it all as I age.     Traedonya – Simply Beautiful UR Feat. Irish Soulflower

    To prepare for the release of her EP High Fructose & Corn Syrup, Traedonya recently unveiled a smooth recreation of Al Green’s Simply Beautiful. The songstress is also know as The Bride Of New Funk Hipopera. She makes the song her own with impressively strong and soulful vocals that do the lyrics justice while creating a unique spin that makes it feel brand new.
